knitting, reading, gardening, oh my!

I thought that with all the rain over the weekend I would make quick work of my knitting, and I have made some progress, but I'm not done yet.  My attention keeps being pulled to the work of the garden.  And then the past couple of days the sun finally came out again.

Since we are kind of working with a bit of a deadline - ie extremely short growing season - it was time to get working on the garden!  But, I have learned that working on a garden takes a lot more time than I originally plan for, and with all the trips to the store because we forgot to get something (all of which was on my list if I had just used the thing!).  Not to make excuses, but just to say that by the time it was dark and I was able to knit, my arms were jelly and I was falling into bed :-)

We aren't even close to being done yet.  We still have all of this:

plus seeds to plant...and today looks like rain.  So I think I will sit down and do a little more knitting and take a bit of a break from the gardening!

What are you working on today?

Linking up with Ginny, Tami, and Nicole!

  1. We are getting hot weather this weekend. We also need to get to the nursery to buy our summer vegetable plants :) Hope you get everything you need to get done!

  2. Oh I love that purple! We've been square foot gardening for nearly six years now...it is really a lovely way to work in our little urban yard. Once you get the gist of it, it's easy to recreate wherever you go (we've moved three times).

  4. Garden looks great so far! We only have the two little 4x4 boxes this year and we will go from there. I think every year we *could* add more but we will see how this goes. I'm all for fresh veggies!!! Such an exciting season!

  5. Gardening really is a lot of hard work, isn't it?! We have been gardening nonstop for the past month or so. I know it will be worth it when our plants start producing, but right now I'm just ready to be done with planting!

  6. I was gardening too on the weekend, but I had to finally stop after an armful of puffy welts from the evergreens. Just as well it's been raining cats and dogs around here - I need to get my knitting done :)

  7. My husband and I live in an apartment, but before we were married, I lived with my parents and had a plot that I had a square foot garden. I'll have to check out "All New Square Foot Gardening."

  10. I read some square foot gardening and use some of those methods, but I just like tomatoes the best, so that's the biggest part of my growing!!
