The Christmas Tree is Up!

Well hello December 1st!  I am happy to see you.  December is probably my favorite month of the year.  There is so much delicious food to eat, there is the wonderful lead up to Christmas, and after Christmas I start to think ahead to the new year and my plans and goals.

We had an amazing Thanksgiving this year.  It was small with us and my mom, and it was fun!  I *may* have miscalculated the amount of time it would take to get everything cooked and prepared with the responsibility of also nursing an infant.

Luckily I was able to get almost all of the food that I had planned to make, made.  Everyone ate it, and that means it must have tasted ok, or perhaps everyone was just starving since we didn't eat until almost 2pm.

The weekend after Thanksgiving every year we spend time shopping and decorating our tree.

We put up a fake tree.  I know that there are all kinds of opinions on that, but we do it because certain family members are allergic.  But, I like having the fake tree because we can leave it up from Thanksgiving to mid-January with no issues!

This year, it took us two days to get the tree up and decorated.  It was fun to do, as always.

The other difference this year is that we are planning on getting a tree for the kids' bedroom.  Every year they tend to remove the ornaments on the tree to play with (we have the soft ornaments on the bottom half of the tree).  This year I figured that we would skip that by giving them a tree of their own.  We haven't gotten it yet, but hopefully this week!  Plus, it will be nice for them to have the Christmas lights at night as they go to bed.

There are so many fun things to look forward to over the next several weeks!  What are you most looking forward to this Christmas season?

  1. Very pretty! Yay for December 1, my favorite time of year too :-) I know my girls absolutely love falling asleep looking at their mini trees! I love how our whole house is a glow this time of year! We will all enjoy it while it lasts for!

  2. Sounds like it was a good Thanksgiving! I'm looking forward to my brother and his family coming from Denver and having all of my siblings and their significant others and kids and I celebrating with my parents at their new home. First time I will have seen my eldest brother's wife and kids in FIVE years! Good golly where does time go?! I'm also looking forward to time to relax, enjoy, BE, and relish what the season is truly, restoration, faith, hope, belief in what's to come. Love the idea of the tree for the kiddos :)
