knitting and reading

I was confident that I would have a FO to show off today!  I got Lucy into bed, I came downstairs ready to watch 19 Kids and Counting and finish up this little shrug for Emma.  Unfortunately, I ended up staying downstairs for about 15 minutes before one of my older kids started having a meltdown - we are all sick again.  So, instead I went back upstairs to be a mama.

But, I only have to finish the border and then sew up the arms, so I think I should have it finished this afternoon!

My reading is essentially the same as last week.  I am still reading the John C. Maxwell Leadership book.  It is really good.  I am on chapter nine right now, and have spent a good bit of time underlining the previous eight chapters.  I hope to have a full review up sometime soon.

With the kids, I just started Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  I absolutely love Harry Potter.  I jumped on the bandwagon the summer before number five was released, and have read all the books numerous times.  I actually read the series aloud to Emma when she was a baby - I got tired of reading fairy tales and board books, so I started reading what I wanted to read to her.  But, now I am reading the first book for my oldest two and they actually understand it.  They seem very interested, so we will see how far we get.  The books definitely get dark as they move along, so I don't expect to read the entire series to them.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I do hope your home is healthy again soon, it's no fun being sick.
I never read the Harry Potter books, but my youngest two boys did and loved

  2. Your shrug looks very cute, gorgeous shade of purple too. Hope everyone's feeling better soon

  3. This is adorable! And I think the fact that you have three little ones, are homeschooling and doing everything else is amazing. The fact is completing this makes you superwoman! Well done my friend

  4. Hope you're all feeling better soon. Sick Mama and kiddos is a rough combo. Love that purple and the stitch pattern.
