knitting and reading

Sock knitting is going well!  Not fast, by any means, but well.  I was a little concerned that the sock was going to be a little small for Emma, but we tried it on this morning and it fits perfectly, which made me happy.

The eyelet pattern was supposed to continue on the top of the sock, but it wasn't coming together after the decreases, so I scrapped it.  I think there may be some missing instructions, or perhaps an update, but since I printed out the pattern last year, I have no idea where to find an update.  I probably should keep better track of where I find patterns...

My reading has been severely lacking over the past month.  I made the mistake of looking at my Goodreads goals, 8 books behind schedule - ouch!  I think I need to find some easy fiction to catch up again!

I picked up Dave Ramsey's Legacy Journey at the library a couple days ago.  I am only on the second chapter, but am looking forward to reading it.  We aren't quite at the "wealth building" phase of our lives, but it is motivating to see the direction we are heading.  Plus, he seems to have a lot of really good information about insurance, and wills - stuff that I don't like to think about or deal with at all.  I figure with three children I ought to be a grownup about things even though I would prefer to bury my head in the sand when it comes to estate planning.  I just realized how boring this probably sounds to a lot of you, but I am definitely a nerd!

What are you working on this week?  Is the weather as beautiful where you are as it is here in New England?!

  4. Your sock is really coming along. I don't think it makes a difference not continuing the eyelet pattern, it'll be hidden inside a shoe anyway :)

  6. we are definitely not in the wealth building stage, we are very much in the debt snowball and going so very slowly for several reasons. We were picking up momentum but then had a few emergencies and home repairs etc. that slowed things down again. Your sock looks beautiful, the eyelets are perfect and I don't think you need them on the top of the sock!
