Firefly Island review and giveaway!

I recently finished Firefly Island by Lisa Wingate.  I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised!  When I started the book, I thought for sure it was another romance novel – not that I don’t love that genre, but I was looking for something different to read.  After a couple chapters I realized it wasn’t really a romance novel at all, instead it was a mystery, and I have loved mystery books since my first go around with the Mandie series…a very long time ago!

The premise is girl meets guy randomly assumed to never see again, then under completely implausible circumstances they do meet again, fall madly in love, and then guy gets a dream job offer just a few short weeks after they begin dating.  Whirlwind romance/marriage/move across the country with guy’s little son to a new life.  Unfortunately, guy’s new boss is rumored to have murdered his family.  Adjusting to life in a small town from the big city, trying to find friends when everyone *knows* something is wrong with the boss and his family’s disappearance, becoming an insta-mama.  Obviously a lot.

Overall, this book was great.  It held my interest, I wanted to keep reading even though my kids wanted me to only read one page a day.  And that was saying something!  I have started so many books recently that were just “eh,” and have been looking for some fiction novel to let me fall into.  This was it.  I think that the ending could have been a little better, but that is just me being nit picky.  I definitely recommend it for anyone that is looking for a mystery to read this summer!

If you would like to read this book just leave a comment and let me know!  For an extra entry, subscribe to my blog through e-mail here.

I received a copy of this book for free from Bethany House in return for my honest review.  The opinions are my own.

Sounds like a good read. I like mysteries, but not romances!
