Navigating the Future with Legacy Online School’s New Features
Homeschooling has definitely become much more mainstream during the past five years. Parents are looking for alternative education paths for their kids, and I am excited to see that there are so many options available. Homeschooling is not one-size fits all. Instead, you get to choose the best path for your individual family, and your individual students. That is what makes homeschooling amazing.
I have noticed over the past several years that there are a lot of people who want to try out homeschooling, but they are unsure of how to teach at home. They may be uncomfortable teaching, or need extra help. That is where Legacy Online School comes in.

What is Legacy Online School?
Legacy Online School is an online accredited private school option for homeschoolers. What does that mean, exactly? It means that your student has the opportunity to learn in a group or individual setting, or even as a self-paced option, online. This does not negate the need to follow the homeschool laws in your state. Think of this as a partnership between you, the homeschooler, and Legacy Online School which is providing the instruction to your students.
Legacy Online School offers programs for K-12. They are accredited by the WASC as well as the College Board. Their curriculum is provided by Florida Virtual School and has an emphasis on STEM. And they even offer AP classes for High School. There are both your normal core courses (math, English, science, history), but they also have a number of elective classes that you can choose as well. To get a better understanding, you can find the course offerings here for elementary, middle school, and high school.
Not only does Legacy Online School offer a great education for your student through online learning, and virtual clubs and extracurriculars, but there have also been several new programs added to enrich the student experience.
Virtual Field Trips
There are now a variety of virtual field trips offered for Elementary through High school aged students. This gives kids an immersive experience into some places they may not have the opportunity to visit in person. These field trips can spark conversations, questions, and even potential passion projects that you may want to add to your homeschool day.

These trips make learning engaging and accessible which is perfect for homeschoolers wanting to go beyond traditional book learning. When you give your student the opportunity to explore new cultures and historical landmarks, it brings learning to life. We want our kids to be able to grow and experience new things, and these virtual field trips are an amazing addition.
Not only is your student getting the opportunity to participate in these field trips, they also have extra learning opportunities. Each of the field trips offers extra information, educator’s guides, and fun activities to engage your student. You also can have the opportunity to participate in live Q&A’s with experts.

Student Leadership Program
Another exciting new program that has been added to Legacy Online School is their Student Leadership Program. This program is open to middle and high school students. It helps to build skills like communication and problem-solving. You have the opportunity to work on student-led projects and initiatives. The goal is to make students leaders and teach them the skills they need to excel as leaders.

There are so many benefits to a student leadership program. Not only are they learning the skills necessary to become leaders, but they are learning to problem-solve in group environments, learning from one another and encouraging one another to take a leadership role. It helps them develop critical thinking skills that will help carry them into their careers in the future.
They will do this through leadership roles in virtual clubs as well as engaging in community service projects. Additionally, they will receive mentorship from professionals in a variety of fields. This is such a great opportunity for students!
Student Spotlight Awards
There are now annual student spotlight awards as well! These awards are for Academic Excellence, and also for Leadership. There are specific criteria for these annual awards that you can see below. The students are nominated by teachers and advisors, however, there is also a self-nomination form that students can be proactive about filling out if they believe they should be considered for one of these annual awards.

Career and College Guidance
One of my favorite features is the college and career guidance. Understanding your options after high school graduation is something that all students need help with. These advisors can help with college applications as well as career paths. If you are a parent of high school aged students and you are concerned about “what’s next?” this is going to be a huge help for you. Plus, it gives your student another person to talk to about their future aspirations.
You are receiving a personalized consultation to take you from setting up your high school plan to SAT prep and finally through college admissions. This is something that homeschoolers want to have access to, and I am excited to share that this is an option through Legacy Online School.
One thing to also keep in mind if you decide to use Legacy Online School for high school, they are fully accredited. That means that they will issue a fully recognized diploma to your student. Oftentimes I hear about the concern from homeschool parents about giving their own diploma to their homeschool graduates. If this is a concern of yours, Legacy Online School may be a good fit.

Try BEFORE you Commit
Legacy Online School offers free live classes so that you can go through and see how it all works for yourself. You can experience their teaching style, interact with the teachers, and explore their Learning Management System (LMS) firsthand. It is a no-pressure way to see if this program will fit your homeschooling vision and needs.
There is so much valuable information right on the Legacy Online School website. Make sure you check out the Parent Handbook to get a good understanding of Legacy Online School overall. However, there are also advisors that can walk you through their programs and give you answers to all of your questions. You can schedule a one-on-one consultation to tailor the program to your student’s needs, whether it is a more part-time schedule, or a fully rigorous college prep and AP path. I feel like this level of personalized support helps you feel confident in your decisions.
A Seamless Learning Management System
Legacy Online School’s Learning Management System is like a digital classroom that brings everyone together. This is where you will encounter your live lessons, assignments, progress tracking, and more. I love the intuitive navigation for both parents and students. You have access to your courses and schedules, as well as all the grades.
If you are doing self-paced learning, you will find those courses here as well. And if you decide that you want to add on some one-on-one tutoring, it will all be in this easy to use system.
You can see my walkthrough of the LMS here.

And you still have a good amount of insight into what your student will be learning and working on each day. It really becomes a partnership between the parent, the student, and the teachers at Legacy Online School.
I would recommend exploring their website. There is so much valuable information on there to read before you even have need to sit down with an advisor.
