Is Legacy Online School Right for Your Family? Here’s How to Know

It is amazing how much more accessible homeschool has become over the past 6-7 years.  People who had never considered homeschooling their kids are now taking the leap.  This means that homeschooling looks a lot different than it did a decade ago.  We have so many more tools at our disposal, which is why I am so excited to share how Legacy Online School works for different families.

If you are new to Legacy Online School, they are a fully-accredited, K-12, online private school.  I have shared a full review and walkthrough of their program here, as well as some of my favorite features that they offer here.  There are two different options with Legacy Online School, first, they have a live group classes with a teacher.  Second, they offer self-paced learning.

Today we are going to chat about some of the different families who may benefit from Legacy Online School.

First up is the Working Parent.  Homeschooling of yesteryear was almost always a single-income family where mom would stay home to educate the kids.  However, today that is very rare.  Legacy Online School offers families the opportunity to homeschool even while still working.  One of the great benefits of the self-paced option is that it can be done at any point in the day.  You do not have to be there at a specific time to attend class.  This gives families with both parents working the opportunity to still homeschool, and feel secure knowing their child is learning what is needed.

Next, we have the family whose kids are in a number of activities.  First, the self-paced option is great for this, but even if you decide to go with the live classes, they have a 4-day week for elementary school and classes for all grades don’t start until 10am, giving more flexibility. The live classes are also a small size of 8-12 students on average, giving your student the attention they deserve.  Not only that, you can choose whether you want to enroll in all of the classes, or just a couple of classes that work best for you and your family. 

For the parent who is worried about teaching their own kids, first, I want to encourage you.  The fact that you are concerned about the education of your children is half the battle.  But, if you need more help, you can choose the courses that you are not comfortable teaching yourself.  This is especially helpful when your students get older – hello upper level math!  Maybe you and your child are butting heads with one particular subject.  When that happens, using a resource like Legacy Online School, where there is a teacher, someone other than mom, teaching the student, can be incredibly beneficial.

I also love that there are academic counselors that will help you every step of the way.  The goal is to have your child succeed with their education, and become a life-long learner.  Legacy Online School is a great resource for you, the parent, outside of just the actual classes offered.  They have college counselors, can help your student with honors and AP level classes, give test prep for standardized testing, and offer so many different extracurricular options and virtual clubs to engage your student outside of the core classes we all have to teach. The virtual clubs also help to alleviate some of the concerns that newer homeschool parents have when their hear the dreaded “socialization” question.

The final family I want to talk about is the high school family.  Homeschool High School is built different – there are so many extra steps, especially if your student is college-bound.  Legacy Online School makes it easy to go to take the next step.  Like I said above, they have AP prep, SAT prep, and college counselors to help you and your student make the next best choice for them and your family.  The fact that Legacy Online School is accredited is another bonus that a lot of homeschool families are looking for as their students transition to high school.  And one of my favorite features – they create the transcript for you.  That is a huge help as you prepare your student for college application season.
